SAVGR’s General Rules on Historical Accuracy

At SAVGR, we value a friendly and approachable stance, emphasizing education over strict accuracy while keeping our values in mind: respecting people of various levels of interest, money, and time. As long as it appears legitimate to the AVERAGE person from about a distance of 6 feet, that is fine. We do ask that YOU personally know if it is legit or not. If the item in your kit is not legitimate, be able to discuss what would be legitimate. For example, if the sea chest you made isn’t the right design, be able to explain what is the right design, just don’t have modern screws visible. This goes for garb as well – we are fine with machine stitching, especially in the beginning.

SAVGR does not have a specific time frame or location we portray. As long as it is close to the Viking Age (700 AD – ~1200 AD), it is fine. Locations can be anywhere the Vikings raided, settled, or had influence.

Inaccurate Viking Example:

Horned Helmet, Leather Vest, Sleeveless Vest

Accurate Viking Garb

Accurate Viking Example:

Tunic and Under Tunic, Basic Pants, Basic Leather Belt
