Educating on Shield Wall

The Society of Amateur Vikings for General Reenactment (SAVGR) is a family friendly group of Viking Reenactors.

We wish to dispel the myths surrounding Viking History / Society. Vikings had a stigma of being the dirty, angry barbarian for a long time. We aim to show that Vikings were regular people who lived regular lives. Our creed is education, interactivity, and entertainment.

We pride ourselves on being easy-going and interactive. Our members range from the casual Viking enthusiast to part-time educators. We have all levels of reenactor here.

As a 501c(3) non-profit organization, we offer educational, entertaining, and interactive short demonstrations/programming to schools as well as the events we support.

In our camp, come play a game. Ask us about our camp, or anything Viking you fancy. So bring your shield, mead horn, family, or just your own curiousity with you when you visit us!

Where we are Located

We are based out of Southeastern Virginia, but welcome members from all over the Mid-Atlantic. We travel anywhere in Virginia, Maryland, and to Central and Eastern North Carolina. We hope to travel even farther as our membership grows!
